Use imxi respectfully. We provide the app as-is. You're responsible for your use. Since we don't collect your data, there's not much else to say!

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using imxi ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the App.

Since the App does not require an account or collect personal information, your use of the App constitutes acceptance of these terms.

2. Description of Service

imxi is a privacy-focused navigation application that provides:

  • Location-based navigation using OpenStreetMap data
  • Peer-to-peer location sharing with friends via WebRTC
  • Local storage of memories and saved spots
  • QR code-based friend connections
  • Multi-language support (10 languages)

The App is provided as a Progressive Web App (PWA) and works entirely in your browser. No servers are used for core functionality.

3. User Responsibilities

When using imxi, you agree to:

  • Use Responsibly: Do not use the App for illegal activities, stalking, harassment, or any purpose that violates applicable laws.
  • Respect Others: Only share location with friends who have consented. Do not attempt to track individuals without their knowledge.
  • Safety First: The App is a navigation tool, not a substitute for attention and caution. Always be aware of your surroundings.
  • No Reverse Engineering: Do not attempt to reverse engineer, hack, or exploit the App's peer-to-peer connections.

4. Privacy

Your privacy is fundamental to imxi. Please review our Privacy Policy to understand how we protect your information. Key points:

  • We collect absolutely no personal data
  • All data stays on your device
  • Location sharing is direct peer-to-peer
  • No tracking, no analytics, no cookies

5. Subscriptions

imxi offers optional subscription plans:

  • $3.99/3 months - Quarterly subscription
  • $9.99/year - Annual subscription

Subscription terms:

  • Payments are processed securely through third-party providers
  • Subscriptions auto-renew unless canceled
  • Cancel anytime through your payment provider
  • Refunds are handled according to provider policies
  • We do not store payment information (handled by payment processors)

Note: Native app subscriptions (iOS/Android) will follow respective app store policies when available.

6. Intellectual Property

Our IP: The imxi name, logo, and app design are our intellectual property. You may not copy, modify, or distribute the App without permission.

Open Source: Parts of imxi may be open source. Check our GitHub repository for specific licensing.

OpenStreetMap: Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors. Used under Open Database License.

Your Content: Your memories and saved spots belong to you. We don't claim ownership of anything you store locally.

7. Third-Party Services

imxi uses the following third-party services:

  • OpenStreetMap: Map data and tiles (openstreetmap.org)
  • Photon/Komoot: Geocoding/search services
  • Various CDNs: For loading libraries (jsdelivr, unpkg, etc.)

These services have their own terms and privacy policies. We do not control them and are not responsible for their practices.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT ANY WARRANTIES.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, including:

  • Accuracy of map data or navigation directions
  • Uninterrupted or error-free service
  • Security of peer-to-peer connections
  • Fitness for a particular purpose

Always use common sense and verify important navigation with other sources.

9. Limitation of Liability

WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP.

This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Getting lost or taking incorrect routes
  • Missed appointments or events
  • Battery drain or data usage
  • Any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages

Since the App is free (with optional subscriptions) and we collect no data, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless imxi and its developers from any claims arising from:

  • Your misuse of the App
  • Your violation of these terms
  • Your violation of any law or third-party rights

11. Modifications to Service

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of imxi at any time without notice. We're not liable for any such modifications.

However, since the App is PWA-based and open source, you can always self-host if you wish.

12. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the European Union, without regard to conflict of law principles. For users outside the EU, local laws may apply.

13. Dispute Resolution

If you have a concern, please contact us first. We're reasonable people and want to resolve issues amicably.

Any disputes not resolved informally shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with EU rules. You may also have rights to seek remedies in your local jurisdiction.

14. Severability

If any provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.

15. Entire Agreement

These terms constitute the entire agreement between you and imxi regarding your use of the App.
